A Note From doug:
2001 has been a difficult year for most of us. The terrorist attack of
11-Sept and the economic turn down have hit most of us. But God has seen
us through and we will carry on.
My hope and prayer is that 2002 will see increased security – national
security against terrorists and terrorist threats and personal economic
security. Keep in mind that we must be good custodians of the blessings
God has presented to us. We must use our spiritual gifts to build up,
not tear down the world in which we live.
With that, I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

WEB SITE REDESIGN LAUNCHED
As you may have already noticed, the new E-Mail Ministry web site has
been launched.
The web site has been totally redesigned. Here are the main aspects of
the new layout:
* Subscription Services: An easy to use page to help you subscribe,
unsubscribe and change your e-mail address.
* Message Archives: All of the previous E-Mail Ministry messages will
(eventually) be located in this section. Each message will be given a
category making it easier for you to find a message to use in your Bible
studies, sermons, youth programs, etc. (NOTE: It will take some time
to load all 470+ messages)
* Church Humor: Need a good, clean laugh? Check out the church humor
section. Have a funny piece relating to church life? You can post it
from a link on this page.
* Christian Sites: Looking for other Christian sites to surf? Check out
these. Have a Christian site of your own or know of a good one people
should visit? You can request a site be added to the list using a link
on this page. (NOTE: If you had a site listed on the old Links page you
will need to submit a new request – sorry for the inconvenience).
* Favorite Verses: Have a favorite Bible verse? Add it to our list.
Need some inspiration? Read the submittal of others.

NEXT SURVIVOR SHOW
Have you heard about the next planned Survivor show?
Three businessmen and three businesswomen will be dropped in an
elementary school classroom for 6 weeks. Each business person will be
provided with a copy of their school district’s curriculum, and a class
of 28 students. Each class will have five learning-disabled children,
three with A.D.D., one gifted child, and two who speak limited English.
Three will be labeled as severe behavior problems.
Each business person must complete lesson plans at least 3 days in
advance with annotations for curriculum objectives and modify, organize,
or create materials accordingly. They will be required to teach
students, handle misconduct, implement technology, document attendance,
write referrals, correct homework, make bulletin boards, compute grades,
complete report cards, document benchmarks, communicate with parents,
and arrange parent conferences. They must also supervise recess and
monitor the hallways. In addition, they will complete drills for fire,
tornadoes, or shooting attacks.
They must attend workshops, (100 hours), faculty meetings, union
meetings, and curriculum development meetings. If they are sick or
having a bad day they must not let it show. Each day they must
incorporate reading, writing, math, science, and social studies into the
program.
They must maintain discipline and provide an educationally stimulating
environment at all times. The business people will only have access to
the golf on the weekends but that won’t matter because on their new
salaries they will not be able to afford it anyway. There will be no
access to vendors who want to take them out to lunch, and lunch will be
limited to 17 minutes.
On days when they do not have recess duty, the business people will be
permitted to use the staff restroom as long as another survival
candidate is supervising their class. They will be provided with two
40-minute planning periods per week while their students are at
specials. If the copier is operable, they may make copies of necessary
materials at this time.
The business people must continually advance their education on their
own time and pay for this advanced training themselves. This can be
accomplished by moonlighting at a second job or marrying someone with
money. The winner will be allowed to return to his or her job.

ONE DOLLAR
A young girl, about 3 or 4 is preparing to go to church on a Sunday
Morning. Her father, seeing how beautiful day it was, decided to give
his daughter 2 dollars. He said to her “Here I give you $2.00. You can
use one to buy candy, and the other as a donation to church.” With a big
smile on her face, she hoped in the car, and headed to church.
On their way there, they passed by a candy store. Seeing that it’s still
early, the girl’s father stopped the car and said “here, if you want to
buy candy, go ahead now.” The little girl was filled with joy. She ran
out of the car, singing and skipping, headed toward the candy store.
Unfortunately, while she ran, she fell. The dollar bill flew out of her
hand, and fell into the gutter. She couldn’t reach it in time, and soon,
it disappeared. The little girl, greatly distressed, looked up in the
skies and said “God, you just lost your dollar.”
