Beginning With Him – June, 2003

BEGINNING WITH HIM – JUNE, 2003

For those who remember, I use to send out a “Beginning With Him” message for the first message of each month. The “Beginning With Him” message was a collection of odds and ends as well as some information about E-Mail Ministry.

I sent out the last “Beginning With Him” message last August and haven’t
sent any since due to personal time constraints. However, there is a
recent development with E-Mail Ministry which I need to bring to your
attention.

E-Mail Ministry exists because of God’s blessings and your willingness
to receive the messages. However, it’s existence is also due to a
computer and this is where the problems lies. Over the past six months
the E-Mail Ministry computer has been experiencing the effect of its
advanced age and it has become increasingly difficult to keep it
operational.

I don’t frequently ask for donations, but I feel the need to do so now. In order to keep E-Mail Ministry going I will need to purchase a new
computer soon.

As you may be aware, E-Mail Ministry is a one person operation which
works on a very limited budget. Currently, it serves over 20,000 people in over 70 countries. However, over the past few months, donations have been minimal – enough to cover the monthly expenses, but not enough to purchase a computer.

E-Mail Ministry is free to all who request it due exclusively to your
generous donations. I do not accept any compensation for my efforts.
100% of your donations go to the expenses of the ministry.

I ask that you prayerfully consider sending a donation (checks or money
orders only in US funds only – do not send cash) to:

E-Mail Ministry, Inc.
P.O. Box 6293
Plymouth, MI 48170

NOTE: E-Mail Ministry is a United States 501(c)(3) non-profit
recognized organization. Therefore, your donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for your assistance.

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE

Living on Earth is expensive,
but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you’re on.

Birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live.

Happiness comes through doors you didn’t even know you left open.

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors….but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

GOOD LIST TO HAVE

1. If you feel far away from God, guess who moved?
2. Fear knocked. Faith answered. No one was there.
3. What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to
God.
4. I am God’s melody of life and He sings His song through me.
5. We can never really go where God is not, and where He is, all is
well.
6. No matter what is happening in your life, know that God is waiting
for you with open arms.
7. God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
8. Do your best and then sleep in peace. God is awake.
9. God has a purpose and plan for me that no one else can fulfill.
10. The will of God will never take you to where the grace of God will
not protect you.
11. We are responsible for the effort, not the outcome.
12. We set the sail; God makes the wind.
13. Begin to weave and God will give you the thread.
14. Sometimes when God says “no”, it’s because He has something better
in store for you.
15. The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us.
16. Prayer: don’t bother to give God instructions, just report for duty.
17. It’s my business to do God’s business and it’s His business to take
care of my business.
18. Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm.
19. How come you’re always running around looking for God? He is not
lost!
20. God put me on earth to accomplish a number of things; right now I’m
so Far behind I will live forever

HEAVEN BOUND

“If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my
money to the church, would that get me into Heaven?” I asked the
children in my Sunday School class.

“NO!” the children all answered.

“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything
neat and tidy, would that get me into Heaven?”

Again, the answer was, “NO!”

“Well, then, if I was kind to animals and gave candy to all the
children, and loved my wife, would that get me into Heaven?” I asked
them again.

Again, they all answered, “NO!”

“Well,” I continued, “then how can I get into Heaven?”

A five-year-old boy shouted out, “YOU GOTTA BE DEAD!”

THE CLIENT vs. THE BARBER

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as
always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who
attended him. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
Suddenly, they touched the subject of God. The barber said: “Look man, I
don’t believe that God exists as you say.”

“Why do you say that?” asked the client.

“Well, it’s so easy, you just have to go out in the street to realize
that God does not exist. Oh, tell me, if God existed, would there be so
many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed,
there would be no suffering nor pain. I can’t think of loving a God who
permits all of these things.”

The client stopped for a moment, thinking, but he didn’t want to respond
so as to cause an argument. The barber finished his job and the client
went out of the shop. Just after he left the barber shop he saw a man in
the street with a long hair and beard (it seems that it had been a long
time since he had his cut, and he looked so untidy).

Then the client again entered the barber shop and he said to the barber:

“You know what? Barbers do not exist.”

“How can you say they don’t exist?” asked the barber. “I am a barber and
here I am.”

“No!” the client exclaimed. “They don’t exist because if they did there
would be no people with long hair and beard like that man who walks in
the street.”

“Ah, barbers do exist, what happens is that people do not come to me.”

“Exactly!”- affirmed the client. “That’s the point. God does exist, what
happens is people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him. That’s why
there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”

Thank you to all of you who make E-Mail Ministry possible by supporting
it with your prayer and your generous gifts. I also appreciate it when
you send the messages on to others so that God may reach them through
this ministry.

My prayer is that, every day, you will grow closer to God and understand
the depth of his love for you.

Have a blessed day!
