LIFE’S CLOCK
The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just where the hands will stop
At late or early hour.
To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed:
To lose one’s health is more:
To lose one’s soul is such a loss
As no man can restore.
The present only is our own,
Live, Love, toil with a will —
Place no faith in ‘tomorrow’ —
For the clock may then be still.

PRAYER OF SPOUSES FOR EACH OTHER
Lord Jesus, grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding
love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and
trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony.
May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each
other’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant
us patience, kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the
well-being of one another ahead of self. May the love that brought us
together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever
closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to
perfection. Amen.

INTERCESSORY PRAYERS
ILLNESS: O God Thou art the source of health and healing, we beseech
thee graciously to comfort thy servant in his/her suffering and to bless
the means made use of for his/her cure. Guide the doctors and nurses as
they minister to him/her of thy healing gifts and grant that he/she may
be restored to that health of body and of mind which it is thine alone
to give through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
SOMEONE WITH A SPECIAL PROBLEM: Bless O God, we pray thee _________who
needs thy guidance (strength, healing, forgiveness, love). May he/she
know that thou art more ready to hear than he/she to pray and canst
do for him/her better things than we can desire or pray for. Accept our
prayers in his/her behalf through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
TO AWAKEN SPIRITUAL GROWTH: Stir up we beseech thy spirit within thy
servant ________that he/she may be inspired to know thee better and to
be guided and strengthened to carry out thy will through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER FOR A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS ILL: Lord, help (name), who is ill,
to feel the quiet reassurance of Your eternal love. Seeing many days of
struggle and pain ahead, it is easy to lose sight of the good in life,
and to be filled with feelings of anger, fear, depression, and anxiety.
Lord, help all people with illnesses to develop and retain hope through
their faith in You, that their lives can improve. Help those who suffer
to help themselves through acceptance of their illness and through the
many organizations, support groups, and self-care techniques now
available. Help those who care for people with illnesses to have skill
in treatment and true compassion. Help all of us to become more aware
of the ways we can love and care for those who suffer. Amen.

WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO:
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple Love
It cannot shatter Hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship
It cannot suppress Memories
It cannot silence Courage
It cannot invade the Soul
It cannot steal eternal Life
It cannot conquer the Spirit.
If an incurable disease has invaded your life, refuse to let it touch
your spirit. Your body can be severely afflicted and you may have a
great struggle. If you keep trusting God’s love, your spirit will
remain strong.
Why must I bear this pain? I cannot tell,
I only know my Lord does all things well.
And so I trust in God, my All in all,
for He will bring me through, whate’er befall.

Life can be tiring and frustrating at times! Come to me when you are
worn down – stressed out with circumstances and burdens that are
weighing you down. I will give you rest!
